Metro pillars project with the collaboration of 8 primary schools from Spijkenisse

In collaboration with nearly 300 children from eight different schools in Spijkenisse, we created eight different designs for eight metro poles, located between the metro stops: Spijkenisse Heemraadlaan and De Akkers.

The theme of “Travel” was a big inspiration for the children. From entire fantasy worlds and favorite vehicles to space travel, dream vacations, and even visits to your favorite animal/person. Together with our fantastic team of interns Dana, Ozzy, Isa, and Esther, we managed to paint the eight poles with spray cans and brushes within six weeks.

The Grand Summer Art Croquet, Kunsthal Rotterdam

Kunsthal Rotterdam has invited us to create an interactive and playful installation on the steps of the Auditorium. The result? The Grand Summer Art Croquet (De Grote Zomer Kunst Croquet)– a whimsical croquet course where art and play come together. Just grab a brightly coloured mallet and make your way through six artful wickets. Challenge your friends and family and experience croquet like never before. The player who completes the course in the fewest strokes wins!

The installation puts a playful twist on the classic game of croquet, transforming it into a visually stimulating experience. Croquet originated in the 19th century as a garden game and quickly became a popular outdoor sport enjoyed by both men and women. In fact, it was even part of the Olympic Games in 1900. The game also holds an iconic place in literature, most notably in Alice in Wonderland , where Alice plays croquet using live flamingos as mallets and hedgehogs as balls.

The Alice in Wonderland story was also a key source of inspiration for our Art Croquet installation. The game begins with a door you hit the ball through, then immediately on to the cloudy caterpillar (wolkjerupsje). The ball then rolls through colourful landscapes and slides, finally passing through the mouth of the Cheshire cat (Katkonijn).

At the end the ball follows a challenging path to the final poles, which bring you back to reality.
